I have stayed in many places in Derbyshire but my favourites are Alison House in Crompton http://www.alison-house-hotel.co.uk/ which let you use their camping field to run your dogs on if its out of season.
I have also stayed http://www.highpeakcottages.co.uk/rose/ in Longnor which is one of my favourite Peak District villages. Lots of lovely walks, 3dog friendly pubs and an amazing fish and chip shop. They also have a lovely deli and the people who own it are very friendly.
Places to visit in Derbyshire that are dog friendly include ...
* Heights of Abraham (Matlock bath) although you and your dog have to be brave enough to take the cable car!
* Tramway museum (Crich)
Bailey loved riding the Tram
* Tissington village ( beautiful private village that does the well dressings but has a great walk called Tissington trail)
* Dovedale and cross the stepping stones a great walk if your dog can get over large stiles then start at illam. Illam village is also worth a visit its national trust owned place and the houses are all in Swiss style)
* Carsington water is lovely to walk around.
* Hartington village is beautiful and again has 2 lovely dog friendly pubs and a great cheese shop!
* Bakewell is a lovely town to wander around!
* Buxton spa town is also lovely to visit particularly the park
I often go to watch the Matlock illuminations which are lovely. They're on 31st aug-26th oct at the weekend http://www.derbyshiredales.gov.uk/le...-illuminations . There is a lovely atmosphere and the boats are beautiful dating back to its start in the Victorian era!
Another Derbyshire tradition that is a must to see is the well dressings. They are truly beautiful and my favourite place to see them is Tissington but they are lovely everywhere.
